The wood flooring underlays displayed below have been selected for their high sound reduction properties. Sound and noise levels are measured in DB and you should look at the DB rating on each product to determine its suitability for your needs. Please beware that the DB ratings on these wood flooring underlays refer (unless stated otherwise) to impact sound reduction – impact sound reduction defines how much noise will be prevented from traveling through the floor. If the objective is to reduce ‘in-room’ noise then rubber or composite underlays are the best choices for wood flooring.

Thicker cork underlays (4mm, 5mm, 6mm) provide great performance and are listed here. Thinner cork underlays (2mm, 3mm) are generally used in conjunction with an additional layer of  foam or rubber underlay for maximum sound reduction benefits. This is the system used in apartments to achieve best results. Please call us to discuss.
